interviews...

Yesterday I spent the day in Waltham MA interviewing with an actuarial consulting company. I had already done a phone interview with an HR representative, so this was a round of interviews with actuaries. The process consisted of four 30 minutes interviews. These seemed short compared to the length of time I had spent speaking with other companies, but the interviews still covered a lot of information.

Luckily each of my interviewers was very personable. I always feel better when the time is spent in more of a coversational manner, rather than simply a series of questions and answers. After my interviews I was taken to lunch by two of the companies younger actuarial students. This was an opportunity for me to find out how they felt about their experiences, and get some advice about choosing a company and career path.

Finally I wrapped up the day with a quick meeting. I spoke with the "people's leader", aka the man in charge of hiring. Overall, it was a good experience, I think interviewing is always a bit nerve racking but also something that can be quite fun.
